Wilderness camp in an exciting location, positioned on the floodplain of Lake Manze.

Lake Manze Tented CampLake Manze camp is located on the shores of Lake Manze in the Selous Game Reserve. A one hour drive from Siwandu airstrip will introduce you to the beautiful plains of Selous with its assorted birds and wildlife.
A no frills camp, Lake Manze offers an exciting wilderness location, positioned on the floodplain of Lake Manze animals, including elephants, come to drink. The tented rooms are raised up to overlook the floodplain and the lake, shaded by doum palm trees. Observe families of hippos, sunbathing crocodiles, plentiful elephants, herons and much more all from camp. Canvas tents with double zip locking and mesh windows are carefully placed around the extensive camp area, with the lodge and dining area in the central section, along the shores of Lake Manze. Inside each large walk-in tent is a double or twin beds with wrought-iron frames, a lock-box (large wooden chest with a padlock) for any valuables and a simple frame with canvas shelves designed as a wardrobe. Large mosquito-gauze windows on all sides of the tent allow the breeze to pass through, whilst keeping insects out. Through the back of the tent, protected by double zip-lock curtains, is an open-air en-suite bathroom with canvas and latticed wood walls for privacy. Each tent has its own stone veranda, which has been beautifully built out of large stone slabs. Sit in a comfortable director's chair, making the most of your great views of the lake, and the animals that come down there to drink. Included at Lake Manze are a choice of driving, boating and walking safaris. The itinerary is flexible and arranged in accordance with your wishes. Boating safaris are on either Lake Manze or along a channel that runs from the Lake towards the Rufiji River. In either direction you can expect to see hippo, crocodile, maybe other animals coming to drink, and about 40 species of birds. Some birds, like osprey, are more likely to be seen on the lake; others, like white-fronted bee eaters, are more numerous on the channel. 4x4 Game safaris take a maximum of 4 guests and can be tailor made to individual requirements. A full day drive usually goes towards the Beho Beho area, with a packed lunch. The vegetation in this area is different from the Manze area, being more open plains. In the afternoon a stop can be made at the Maji Moto hot springs. |
