Dating back to the 19th century, The Swahili House was originally an Indian Merchant House and home to many Sultan families. Recently restored to its original state with 22 en-suite bedrooms, The Swahili House now combines modern facilities with traditional influences and Swahili hospitality. Five floors are built around a beautiful courtyard with each floor accessible by Zanzibari staircases and an elevator. Bedrooms are decorated in traditional Swahili style and are equipped to Western standards and include fans and air-conditioning. Most rooms in The Swahili House feature open-style bathrooms with a shower and bath. The rooftop terrace is a particular highlight commanding wonderful views over Stone Town and the Indian Ocean, whilst housing a bar, restaurant and a relaxing Jacuzzi.
