Selous Wilderness Camp
Tented Camp in Riverine Forest on Southern Bank of Rufiji River
Set along the palm-fringed edges of the wide and meandering Rufiji River is the Selous Wilderness Camp, surrounded by wetlands, lakes and swamps. Access to this camp is via Mtemere airstrip and a boat journey across the river.
With only 7 spacious tents (each set 20 metres apart) and with a mixture of solid wood furniture and leather sofas, Selous Wilderness Camp offers intimacy and exclusivity to its guests. The services and hospitality from the experienced staff, the décor and finishing, blend in with the natural environment, thus giving a feeling of real tranquility.
All tents are en-suite and offer fans, outside showers and view of the Rufiji River. Two of the tents have been designed for honeymooners, and one tent is suitable for families. A swimming pool offers a chance to cool off in the early afternoon heat.
With its unique location on the south side of the Rufiji River, guests at the Selous Wilderness Camp experience game viewing away from the crowds of other parks and the well-worn safari circuits. The camp offers half and full-day river safaris, game drives and walking safaris with the occasional surprise bush picnic.
