Nestled next to the great Ruaha river lies a hidden gem, the Amara Simbazi Selous, a luxurious boutique safari camp in the heart of the Selous Game Reserve. The camp provides guests with lavish comfort in the middle of the African bush, Amara merges nature with extravagance for the best of both worlds. Situated along the riverbanks of the Great Ruaha River means that Simbazi Selous is an ideal location for viewing endemic, aquatic and migratory birds.
Simbazi Selous Camp has 12 suites each with 90 square meters of inside space and an additional 40 meters of outdoor space offering the ultimate relaxation on king beds whilst cooling in air-conditioned luxury is coupled with opulent bathrooms. Outside each suite are secluded showers with hot water and inviting rock plunge pools, where you can safely relax and cool down under the African sun while listening to the snorts and antics of the resident hippos - nearby in the river. A desk overlooks the sprawling river, ideal for writing up your game viewing experiences. In room massages and other special treatments are available upon request. Every detail ensures an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Space and privacy is Amara's signature. Activities include Game Drives, Walking Safaris, Boating, Bird Watching and time out just to take in the breathtaking views. All game drives are spacious tailor-designed 4WD vehicles with open sides and raised seating for ideal game viewing. Games drives are best when taken early in the morning or at dusk and can be accompanied by a sunrise bush breakfast or sundowner picnic. Walking Safaris are possible accompanied by highly trained and professional guides. Walking safaris offer guests the rare chance to get up-close and personal with the `little five`, as well as learn about the relationship between flora and fauna and the medicinal values of the plants that thrive in the reserve. A highly educational and uniquely enlightening experience, walking safaris follow the tracks, sights, smells and sounds of animals big and small into the wild of Africa. Boating safaris on the Ruaha River take place early morning and late afternoon in custom-designed boats, fitted with cooler containers providing guests with cool drinks and snacks whilst viewing the large population of resident hippos, crocodiles, fish and birdlife.
