Set back from the lake, the camp offers spectacular views and a good base for climbing Oldonyo L'Engai.

Lake Natron Tented CampLake Natron Camp is set back in a grove of trees from the wild and remote lake. Lake Natron is one of the most alkaline lakes in the world. Home to millions of tiny crustaceans, the lake is a haven for literally thousands of lesser flamingo's and it is one of the most important flamingo breeding grounds on earth. A-framed safari tents offer showers, comfortable beds and a verandah with your own private view of the incredible landscape. The camp has nine spacious semi-luxurious tents, each with their own bathroom with shower, flush toilet, wash hand basin, soap, towels and bottled water. Beds have mosquito nets, mosquito coils, candles & matches, electric lights are in both the tent and bathroom. A fully stocked bar and restaurant ensure you have a cold drink and good food at the end of an arduous climb, or long days walking. Room service, laundry, camera charging and internet connection are all available. Set in beautiful, shady gardens there is a natural swimming pool to cool off after a busy day out. The camp also has a seperate campsite with 11 fly tents using shared toilet and shower block. Activities close by include climbing Mount L'Engai with a highly experienced guide from the camp. No special equipment is required but it is a hard, climb to the top through notoriously spiky vegetation. For a slightly less demanding walk, a guide can take you for either a picnic breakfast or sundowners by the lake. There is also a nearby freshwater waterfall where it is possible to swim, cool off and relax! |
