The Retreat - Dar es Salaam

The Retreat at Dar es Salaam is a private boutique hotel, situated away from the bustle of the city, just 12 km from the international airport at Mbezi Beach in the northern edge of Dar es Salaam, overlooking the Indian Ocean. The Retreat provides limousine services from and to the airport upon request.

Six rooms all face the sea and facilities at the Retreat are exclusively for the luxury of guests and their friends. Furnished throughout in rare African art, Zanzibari antiques, four-poster beds and bath tubs big enough for two, The Retreat, brings you international-style comfort with all the romance of colonial, coastal Africa.

Start your morning eating fresh tropical fruits on the teakwood veranda, listen to the songs of local fishermen hauling in their catches. Finish your day with a refreshing swim in the Indian Ocean and a cocktail in the ocean-side gazebo, before enjoying an outdoor candlelit dinner that entices the guests back again and again – the menu includes fine wines, fresh-baked bread, fish caught only hours before, piquant grilled or marinated meats, and vegetables from nearby gardens.

Upon request, a trip to Bagamoyo or a city tour, including a visit to the Makonde carvers, sailing trip on a big catamaran, dives to nearby islands, or water-skiing in the hotels own speed boat, can be organised.
