Dive Pemba

Despite the wealth of attractions to be found on Pemba Island many visitors arrive with the sole intentions of exploring the underwater paradise of its pristine coral reefs.  There are plenty of challenging sites for experienced and novice divers.  A deep channel separating Pemba from the mainland is the domain of schools or rays, barracuda and occasionally sharks and whales who cruise its murky depths.  Steep walls rise up revealing pristine coral reefs teeming with colourful fish in crystal clear water at the surface. 

Misali Island is famed for its near vertical wall of living coral descending to more than 60 metres, and inhabited by huge shoals of fish.  Spectacular drop-offs, exhilarating drifts and shallow coral reefs have earned Pemba the reputation of being one of the top diving destinations in the world, and since the island is less visited than Unguja, you are likely to have the dive sites all to yourself.
